Faith Doesn't Cancel the Fog

I used to think that if I prayed hard enough, the fog would lift. I believed that my desperate pleas would somehow part the clouds and bring clarity to my mind and heart.

That if I quoted enough scripture, the panic would stop. I would recite verses that I thought would shield me from the storm, hoping for an instant transformation that would calm my spirit.

But I’ve learned that faith doesn’t cancel the fog—it walks with me through it, holding my hand as I navigate through the haze. In those moments of uncertainty, I find that faith is not about the absence of fear but rather about finding strength in spite of it.

Manic depression doesn’t make me less of a believer. It makes me a believer who battles. Each day is a new challenge, and I face moments that seem insurmountable, yet I persist in my journey of faith.

Some days I’m on fire for God. I wake up with unshakeable confidence and a profound sense of purpose. Other days I’m curled up in bed, begging Him to make it stop, feeling overwhelmed and defeated by the weight of my thoughts.

And both days, He’s still with me. In every low and every high, I know I am not abandoned. His presence surrounds me like a warm embrace, reminding me that I am loved unconditionally.
